To Henare, friend, greetings to you and all the people, may God protect you all. That concludes my greetings to you all. Friend, your letter has arrived and the people have seen it - we respond with greetings and lamentations as if you were physically here speaking to us.

Friend, I am greatly pleased with your plans, as are all the people from Te Wairoa through to Nukutaurua. Friend, I have agreed for the committee to be established starting from Mohaka with the boundary at Te Mahanga, and we are currently selecting people to be administrators within that committee.

This is my wish - that we meet together to talk with all the people during the days of this month. As the scripture says, it is not good to use paper and ink, but rather that we speak face to face.

Friend, I hear you will travel to Turanga by ship. Friend, let my word be effective through you - come by land at the head where all the fish are struck,

Friend, what I say is true. Faith is the source of knowledge. As Paul's words say in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, verses 8 to 11. May you be blessed in the Lord's appointed work. The word is in the sacraments and in what is within Christ - this is the faith by which people live.

As David's word says in Psalm 118 verses 17-18: "I shall not die, but live, and proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death."

Friend, that is all I have to say to you. May you live to be an authority for the committee and for the people.
