Number 6N
This is a translation of the terms of the lease of the shares of Nopera Kuikainga in Eparaima Number 6N block to Rawiri Himi and his partners by Nopera's lessors, namely Ahitana Nopera, Eriata Nopera, and Arapera Waipari and her husband Tipene Matua.
That lease document was written on the thirteenth day of February, 1889, by those Maori people mentioned above on one side called the lessors and Rawiri Himi, Hohepa Arikihanara Hotiana, and Wiremu Eruwini Hotiana on the other side, called the lessees. That lease states that those lessors are leasing to those lessees and their descendants and their people after them all of their shares of those lessors, large or small, within the whole of that side of Eparaima Number 6N block on the western side, the size of that place being 2373 acres more or less, that is the entire portion of that block which did not go in the lease to Ormond.
Page 2:
That land is to be held by those lessees for the full period of twenty-one (21) years beginning on the 13th day of February one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine (1889). The rental money to be paid for that place each year shall be one hundred and fifty pounds (£150). That money shall be collected on the thirteenth day of February each year of that lease, with Ahitana Nopera as the collector of that money for all those years if he remains alive. If six months pass after any of the days for collecting that money and that money has not yet been paid, or if those lessees do not comply with any other conditions they have agreed to within that lease document, then it shall be proper for those lessors to return to that land and terminate the lease. Those lessors also agree to write a new lease to those lessees for all their shares for those same years with those same annual payments and all the same conditions of this lease, once the surveying and dividing of the place for them all individually has been completed. Those

lessees shall pay for the making of that new lease, but the shares of those lessors in that land shall remain with those lessees as they are now while not yet surveyed.
That above is a true translation of the lease of those lessors to those lessees of their shares in Eparaima Number 6N.
