To Henare Matua Autahi. Greetings to you, elder, and to the committees. May you be well in God's works, may your years extend in long life in the days ahead - that is my greeting.
Friend Henare Matua, those are the exact words Te Penetana [Fenton] replied with when I requested him to write the document, the certificate, and send it to me so our names could be written on that certificate. Friend, Chief Judge Fenton did not agree. Here I am sending that Pakeha's letters so you can see them, and you should find some procedure for these matters. I am unclear about requesting the certificate again because my request words are the same ones written here that Karena and others took - those very words I wrote to him. I am wondering how there might be words for me to request from that Pakeha, so those words are written below.

Friends, greetings. Your letter of November 11th has arrived regarding your land blocks Ruatangata and Raukautaua to be heard. Very well. From your friend Penetana, Chief Judge, to Aperahama Tipae at Whangaehu, Whanganui.

Friend Henare Matua,
These are my second and third requests below, written for you to see.
Te Wakatakerenui Whangaehu December 5, 1874
To Fenton, Chief of the Court
Friend, greetings. Your letter of November 20th has arrived about Ruatangata and Rakautaua being heard. Friend, it is not right to hear them again because they have already been heard - only send the certificate, send it quickly.
From your friend, Aperahama x Tipae.
Te Wakatakerenui Whangaehu January 11, 1875
Because you took so long to reply to that letter, this is being written. Friend Te Penetana, send the certificates for Ruatangata and Rakautaua. You wrote saying we should agree to the hearing - friend, we do not agree to a hearing because the hearing is already finished. The only thing you need to send is the certificate. That is my word to you, from your friend, Aperahama x Tipae.
Friend Henare, these are copies for you to examine for right or wrong, so they're shown for you to know what's right or how things stand.

Your letter of January 11th has arrived about Ruatangata and Rakautaua. However friend, I do not clearly understand your letter's meaning - are you opposing the partition of those land blocks? If you're opposing it, why did you send partition applications?
From your friend,
Tiki.
From the Chief Judge.
To Aperahama Tipae
Whangaehu
Whanganui
That's the reply to my two requests for certificates for Ruatangata and Rakautaua.
Friend Henare Matua, you should examine the procedure - the decision rests with you.
That is all
from your beloved friend
Aperahama x Tipae.
